Interests: I investigate cryosphere-climate interactions with regional focus on the Greenland ice sheet. My research utilizes observations and models to assess Greenland ice sheet ice mass changes and climate sensitivity. I use a variety of data sources, including: meteorological towers, satellite remote sensing, and time lapse cameras. Additional interests include solar and wind power. I maintain a solar observatory on campus, see: http://polarmet35.mps.ohio-state.edu/solar/

Interests: Global climate change as expressed in high latitudes; the influence of tropical ocean-atmosphere variability on the polar regions; the climatic impacts of the Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets; coupled mesoscale-global circulation model simulations; and the atmospheric moisture budget of high southern latitudes, Greenland, and the Arctic basin using reanalyses.

Interests: My research interest is in global climate modeling and tropical meteorology. I use global climate system models together with observational datasets to study the interesting tropical phenomena such as the past and future climate change, El Nino/Southern Oscillation, Madden-Julian Oscillation, tropical storms and clouds, and their global impacts on major natural disasters.

Interests: I am fascinated by earth-water-atmosphere interactions and tropical glaciers. Because of the profound reliance upon these tropical glaciers by millions of people, I am interested in quantifying and tracing the changes of these remote ice masses through space and time by way of transdisciplinary research.

Interests: I use the chemical and physical properties preserved in ice cores collected from the polar ice sheets and high mountain glaciers to reconstruct Earth's complex climate history. Specific interests include reconstructing high resolution (annual) records of net mass accumulation, atmospheric dustiness and chemistry, and temperature as inferred from stable isotopic ratios. Processes of particular interest include volcanism, ENSO, monsoonal variability and the intersection of climate variability, human forcing and human responses. Lonnie Thompson and I lead the Ice Core Paleoclimate Research Group at the Byrd Polar Research Center.
