I hope everyone is enjoying the holiday season. Soon we will be back to classes and spring semester. Believe it or not we are already planning next year’s classes (2017-18). We are working first on Summer, and I have sent a request for expressions of interest to our current grads.

I am glad to announce that Debangana Bose’s proposal for an NSF Doctoral Dissertation Research Improvement (DDRI) award has been favorably reviewed. The NSF is now in the final stages of the award process. Based on Debangana’s research plan, she will be in India for the next couple of semesters. Best of luck for successful field work. Debangana’s adviser is Nancy Ettlinger who sent on this news to me over the break.

The first of three candidates for the Social Geography position will be here Jan 11-13. Max Woodworth has sent around a request for sign up. Your participation is vital to this process.

Not much other news this week, but I suspect we will be back in full swing in 2017.
