This experiential learning course takes students out of the classroom and into the Central Plains of the US: the severe weather capital of the world. Students learn about convective phenomena including storm structure, storm evolution, hazardous weather, and severe weather environments by directly forecasting and decision-making in the moment to anticipate storm initiation and evolution. The hands-on nature of this course enables students to directly apply topics taught in classroom based courses to the real world.
