In Summer 2024, students in Geog 3755 (Geography of the EU and the Challenges of Sustainability) spent several weeks in Cyprus in a study-away, four-credit-hour course on sustainability issues related to the EU. The course combines classroom learning and in situ, hands-on structured learning experiences. The course instructor, Professor Stavros Constantinou, has been recognized by Ohio State for the course, which is now part of the new GE curriculum (https://drakeinstitute.osu.edu/news/2022/12/13/first-its-kind-ge-theme-focuses-sustainability-student-experience). Geography 3755 was the first four-credit-hour study-away course in the new GE curriculum.
Funds from the Sharpe Field School were used to offset travel costs for the students that attended.
