On March 8, 2024, students in Dr. Madhumita Dutta's course took a bus tour of Licking County, visiting the construction site for the new Intel facility near New Albany, OH as well as related sites for source materials like rock aggregate for concrete. They were guided on this tour by local residents who have been pivotal in raising awareness of the impact the arrival of Intel has had on local communities, from changes in toxin levels in the groundwater to increased construction traffic and congestions on unprepared local infrastructure. Sharpe funds were able to pay for bus transportation for the students so they could see these sites first-hand.
