Representatives from American Electric Power visited the Sharpe Commons this Wednesday, April 25, to present a donation of a DJI drone with LiDAR equipment that can be used in a wide range of student and faculty research. Adam Sauer gave a presentation on how AEP has used LiDAR to model transmission lines. Adam Tjoelker was able to present the results of his recent MA thesis on remote sensing of rock glaciers in Nevada and the Yukon as well as how the donated LiDAR equipment could be incorporated into future research.

Many thanks to AEP for their generous donation, as well as to Kelby Thoreson, Bryan Hanft, Matt Shellenberger, Adam Sauer, and Doug Hoy who brought the equipment to campus!
