Academic advisors are available to help you learn more about our majors, courses, and degree requirements, and to discuss how Geography might align with your interests and career goals. Advisors can also connect you with faculty, student organizations, and other campus resources.

To request information or ask general questions, email geographyadvising@osu.edu. Admitted students may also schedule a virtual advising appointment through Arts and Sciences Advising and Academic Services by calling 614-292-6961 and selecting option 1. Appointments are required and should be scheduled 2–3 weeks in advance, as availability is limited, particularly during peak registration periods.

Prospective students planning an in-person campus visit may request a departmental visit to gain a deeper understanding of Geography at Ohio State. Departmental visits may include opportunities for an advising overview, meetings with faculty, class observations, tours of facilities, and opportunities to connect with current Geography students.

To request an official visit to the department, please complete our Online Department Visit Request Form. Once submitted, please give staff 2-3 business days to respond and begin coordinating your visit and itinerary with you. 

Visits are available to schedule Monday–Friday between 8:00am - 4:00pm (excluding university holidays) and require advance notice. Please allow 2–3 weeks for coordination. Availability may be limited during peak registration periods, and appointments are required.

Aviation Overview at Ohio State Airport 

Students interested in the flight program within the Social Science Air Transportation major are strongly encouraged to attend an Aviation Overview event at The Ohio State University Airport. These events are hosted in partnership with the Center for Aviation Studies and Flight Education and provide valuable insight into the program. Space is limited, and advanced registration is required. Event offerings can be found here. 

Admissions and Campus Tour

Prospective students interested in applying and are seeking a broader introduction to Ohio State are also encouraged to schedule an Admissions Overview and Campus Tour through Undergraduate Admissions.

The Department of Geography participates in Buckeye Bound and other college admitted-student events before commitment day. Geography advisors attend tabling sessions and open events, providing informal opportunities to ask questions, learn about majors, and connect with the department. We encourage admitted students to attend Buckeye Bound or an Admitted Student Overview and Tour to learn more about Ohio State and the College of Arts and Sciences.
