Department friend and NBC4 meteorologist, Ben Gelber, has a new book, titled Pennsylvania Weather: a 400-Year Chronicle of Historic Events. The book documents four centuries of significant weather events in Pennsylvania, combining historical research with meteorological expertise to illuminate how weather has shaped Pennsylvanian lives, landscapes, and communities.

But there's more good news ... In recognition of his broader public impact, Ben was inducted into the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors Hall of Fame in 2025, honoring individuals who have served with exceptional distinction in journalism. In addition, he will soon receive a 50-year service award from the National Weather Service Cooperative Observers Program, recognizing a lifetime of weather observation that began with his high-school years as a volunteer weather spotter in Pennsylvania.
