See our students’ outstanding story maps!
Dr. Madhumita Dutta teaches our new 4-credit hour, research-intensive version of Geography 2400. The class is a Citizenship-themed GE and is one of our most popular offerings. As part of the class, Dr. Dutta leads students on a semester-long global commodity chain analysis research project. With core assistance from Michelle Hooper, our department’s talented GIS administrator, Dr. Dutta’s Spring and Autumn 2024 cohort produced a fantastic series of story maps to illustrate their commodity chain analyses. For the uninitiated, a story map is a fun, interactive way to combine maps with pictures, videos, and text to tell a story. It brings data to life by connecting it to real-world locations, making it easy for people to explore and understand complex topics in a visual and engaging way.
