Becky Mansfield wins Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellowships Award

Becky

It is our great honor to announce that OSU Geography Professor Becky Mansfield has received one of 3 2017 Joan N. Huber Faculty Fellowships form the College of Arts and Sciences.

Becky has accumulated an impressive academic record, through research, teaching and service to our Department. This is most evident by reading these excerpts from the nomination letter written by Morton O'Kelly, Chair, Department of Geography, College of Arts and Sciences, The Ohio State University.

“Becky is a mid-career scholar who was promoted to Full Professor in 2013. She is chairing a current faculty search and continues to lead our graduate committee. Her leadership and direction to both of these important committees is admirable. She has an excellent record as a teacher, and distinctive contributions to the department in terms of service.”

“While she herself would be critical of efforts to measure some aspects of productivity in this way, there is no doubt that in terms of peer reviewed publications she has done very well in developing a coherent CV and widely lauded profile. The hallmark of this record is high quality scholarship. The papers are in top ranked journals for her field.”

"Her work is uniformly strong and detailed on intellectual rigorous grounds and attacks a great many interesting problematic aspects of our current social system. I believe an award of a Huber Fellowship to Becky would be a fitting marker for this stage of her career and would be commensurate with the goals of extremely high quality scholarship set by Dean Joan Huber."

Congratulations Becky.
