Chairman O'Kelly's News Brief

Bonnie Bounds spent last week in L'Aquila, Italy for a week-long economic geography summer school. It was hosted by the Gran Sasso Science Institute for PhD students and early-career researchers and she received a scholarship for the event.
Tim Nyerges (University of Washington) and Libby Wentz (Arizona State University) organized a highly successful panel and reception at ICC 2017 as a tribute to Harold Moellering's career. OSU Geography was delighted to co-sponsor the event on July 6. We have a copy of the detailed slide show for anyone who is interested.
Morton O’Kelly is the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement in Location Analysis Award from the INFORMS Section on Location Analysis. The announcement was made at ISOLDE in Toronto. This is a triennial award for significant contributions, and cites pioneering efforts on hub network location. This topic now accounts for a major cluster of activity among the peer group. The award will be presented at the Houston INFORMS Annual Meeting in October. Past winners are listed here:
