Ohio State is in the process of revising websites and program materials to accurately reflect compliance with the law. While this work occurs, language referencing protected class status or other activities prohibited by Ohio Senate Bill 1 may still appear in some places. However, all programs and activities are being administered in compliance with federal and state law.

Chairman O'Kelly's News Brief

Morton O'Kelly

Congratulations this week to two geographers for their prize winning entries in the International Affairs photography competition
Our undergraduate Senior and GIS Major Elliot Gilfix, won first place for his Puddle Under the Tower picture. A very creative use of reflection. The photo was taken in Paris, May 2017 during Elliot’s visit with family.
Ola Ahlqvist received a third place award for his photo “Hmong Womantaken in Viet Nam May 2017 during Ola’s sabbatical travels. See the photos and many more here:

Kenneth Madsen informs me of several interesting pieces: first a guest column in the Newark Advocate: entitled “Ohio needs Congressional gerrymandering reform
Kenneth also had an OSU Insights feature (back in October) on: ”Border barriers: Could a wall really make the U.S. safer?”
Finally, here’s a Newark campus presentation where Kenneth discusses border walls and fences

We are all working to wrap up Fall Semester, which ends Dec 6th followed of course by the Final Exam period. Good luck to everyone and watch out for reminders about our Holiday Party.
