Our Geography Speakers’ Series for this year has been set under the theme “Global Africa.”

Our first speaker will be Dr. Abdi Samatar from the University of Minnesota as our Taafe lecture on September 28^th.

We kicked off the Workshop Series for the newly-opened Sharpe Innovation Commons with the talk “Geography in the Private Sector”, given by Andrew Buck Michael (ASP BS, 2008), now the ABC6 (Columbus, OH) Weather Team Meteorologist. This workshop was very well attended – great start to the year’s series!

Finally, it was announced at our department’s Meet and Greet back on August 20^th that Dan Sui will be leaving us effective October 1^st to take a position as Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation at the University of Arkansas. Please join me in wishing him well in this transition.
